There are a couple of other tours that look interesting, but that we probably will not use. There is the Christmas Markets along the Danube from Grand Circle Travel (9 days, $1195.00 per person) and Old World Christmas Markets along the Rhine from Vantage Travel (12 days, $1299.00 per person). These are both boat trips along European rivers, with the Christmas Markets as the theme, and both prices include airfare.
I think that both of these sound like very interesting tours, but they just do not meet what we are looking for at this time.

Another tour that we like the looks of is German Christmas Markets from Blue Danube Tours. (I don't know anything about this company either.) This one does not visit the teddy bear factory, but if we stay a few days after the tour, we can do that on our own.
This one starts in Frankfurt, then there are stays in Breitnau, Hohenschwangau, Munich, Nuremberg and then back to Frankfurt.
This tour has the optional dates of December 1-7 or 8-14. So we could take the early one and stay a few days and still be home so Karen can meet her commitments.
I forgot to mention the price of the other tour. It is $749.00 per person. This tour is $795.00 per person. So this one is a little more expensive, but we like the overall itinerary better. (Of course, these prices do not include airfare.)

There are several other tours that we are looking at. The preferred dates we would like to travel are the beginning of December, as Karen has some commitments for later in the month, closer to Christmas.
One that looks good is German Christmas Markets 2002 from Binder Reisen. (I know nothing about this company.) One thing that looks good about it is that it also includes a visit to the Steiff teddy bear factory in Geingen. The problems we see with it are:
1) it only stays in two cities, Stuttgart and Munich, with day trips to other places;
2) there are visits to multiple Christmas Markets on the same day, and there may not be enough time at each one to really get the feel of the individual markets;
3) The only option is December 9-15
This last item is the one which will probably cause us to decide against this tour, as we would prefer one for a week earlier, and then stay on our own for a few days after the tour.

There are several escorted tours that we are currently looking at. We will have to go through them carefully and see which one looks like the best deal.
We are partial to Trafalgar Tours because of the great time we had in Italy, but the Christmas in Munich tour is the only one they currently have, and is somewhat disappointing. It is only six days (two are travel days), and you only stay in Munich. There are day trips to other places, but no mention of any Christmas Markets except for the one in Munich.

This log is here to document our next European trip.
The plans are still in the concept stage at this point, but we are looking to go to Germany in early December to go to the Christmas Markets. When we were planning our Best of Italy tour last year, Karen had seen a Tour of German Christmas Markets and was very interested. Since I have been working out of town most of the time, I felt that it would be good to do something for her.
I have enough points with British Airways to get free airfare, and enough points with both Hilton and Marriott to get free hotel rooms. This will probably be a mix of an escorted tour and some time in Germany on our own.
