...reason for being...
When I was a boy, I was very shy... No, wait, wrong story. Let me start over...
When I started surfing the web, many years ago when it was still in its infancy, I used the Mosaic Browser -- you know, the one that sparked the development of Netscape. Whenever I found a site I wanted to go back to, I put it in the bookmarks. You know all about that, I'm sure you do it all the time. Way back then, there were few sites, so this worked out just fine.
However, as the web grew, so did my bookmarks, quickly becoming unmanagable. I was working in an office, on a network with a nice high speed connection to the Internet, unlike now where I feel lucky to get access at 26400bps. [NOTE: July, 2003 -- finally got high-speed cable Internet access!!] (You do know that the Internet and the World Wide Web are not the same thing, right? But that is yet another story... Check out the Internet Timeline.) So to teach myself how to do it, I set up an NT server using a freeware web server software package, and put my bookmarks online as links in my web page.
As more people became aWWWare, I would find directories of useful web sites. As these would be relatively small at the time, I would add these links to my web site. As I got more of these, I had to split them up into categories. This process would happen differently depending on my mood when I was selecting categories. Therefore some of the links you may find here might not be in the category you would think they should be in.
Many of the links I have collected here I have never used, and many of the others I have not used in a long time. So you may find some links that either do not work at all, or get you someplace you do not want to be.
I MAKE NO GUARANTEES THAT ANY OF THESE LINKS WILL GET YOU ANYWHERE!
