Treetop Lodging

Basic Information

I have found information about several places where you can rent one or more nights lodging in treehouses. I will continue to add more as I find them.

France

Epiniac

Domaine des Ormes

Sleeping in the trees, sleeping in a tree-house, at 5, 10, 14 metres high, among birds and squirrels! It is extravagant, even foolish! But, it is obviously a night unlike the others.

It is a brief flash back to childhood, a moment stolen from modernity, a natural change of scene which leads you back to the others and back to yourself.... A night in a tree-house with your lover, your family or some friends... High in the sky, nestling in the tree, rocked by the branches! Hush... Choose the tree-house which resembles you the most and don't bother... You will do right...
Les Ormes - Epiniac, 35120 - Dol de Bretagne

Monmarves

Château Gauthié in Monmarves in Dordogne

To recollect your child's spirit, for a romantic escape, for a simple yet uncommon retreat, you can rent this special bed and breakfast in a treehouse. Or for an unusual holiday with family or friends, the self-catering cabin perched in the trees is an outstanding lodging.

Scotland

Letham

Fernie Castle ~ The Treehouse Suite

If you go down to the woods today you're in for a big surprise...........
Because this is where you will find Fernie Castle Treehouse perched in six lofty sycamores, the first glimpse of the house is through the pines, rowans and elderberries, the sun glinting on copper roof tiles. It appears to grow out of the trees with the sycamores bursting right through the floor and up out of the roof. Entry is via a flight of stairs to a fairy light-festooned balcony where double doors with striking stained glass lead you into the bedroom.

Sweden

Västerås

Woodpecker Hotel

Tree house set 13 metres above a Swedish public park, with rope ladder access only.

The tree is a 130 year old oak in the central park of Västerås which is near Stockholm, Sweden. Luckily there is a small toilet up there so you won't need to repel down in the middle of the night to use the potty. There's also some simple IKEA furnishings and small library in case you get tired of the view and would rather pick up a good book.

Germany

Zentendorf

Kulturinsel Einsiedel
Kulturinsel Einsiedel 1, 02829 Neißeaue OT Zentendorf

Please get closer and get an inside view behind our tree house doors. Because after all you would want to know where you will be sleeping and which kind of habits the island ghost has whose tree top house you can visit if you want. He who wants to know how it all began, and how the tree houses came to the island then have a look in our tree house history.

United States

California

Post Ranch Inn Big Sur
accomodations/Rooms/Tree

Seven triangular treehouses; this inn was included in Condé Nast Traveller's 2008 Gold List of the world's best hotels.

These single standing structures are built nine feet off the ground on stilts with a stairway to each entrance. Triangular in shape, each room has a bed in the center with a window seat, desk and fireplace in the corner. They all accommodate only two people. All Tree Houses are on the inland side with views of the trees and mountains from the windows and terrace.

Oregon

Out'n'About Treehouse Treesort LLC & Treehouse Institute of Arts and Culture in Takilma, Oregon

B&B; with 13 different treehouses.
Treezebo 37 feet above ground level.
Ropes course, zip line and swimming pool.

There are many educational, and adventurous, vacation sites in Southern Oregon, but only one where you can, lit-treely, "go out on a limb"... and have so much fun to learn something while you're there. The Tree Room Schoolhouse Suite (which includes a bathroom, kitchenette and "sitting to ponder area"), the Swiss Family Complex (a pair of treehouses connected by a swinging bridge), the Treezebo (our tallest residential treehouse, sleeps two to five, with toilet and sink), the Forestree (like the Treezebo but with full walls), the Peacock Perch (designed for, and best enjoyed by two, very romantic), the Yurtree (18' diameter yurt on a 20' platform in the trees), the Treeloon (sleeps four with a sink), connected by a swinging bridge to the Cavaltree (styled as a cavalry fort in the trees), the Serendipitree (for two adults or two adults and two small children). Also available is the Cabintree (a deluxe "on the ground" gem accompanied by a small open air treehouse), and newest additions the Pleasantree, Balcontree and Mastree.

Washington

Cedar Creek Treehouse at Mount Rainier

Treehouse is 50 feet up in a 200 year old western red cedar.
Also an observatory 100 feet up.

Imagine having your own state park for a weekend, with a clear mountain stream flowing by your cabin -- except that your cabin is 50 feet up in a giant cedar tree with a view seen only by the birds! You're living in the tree canopies of a lush temperate rainforest ... you can see for miles ... a great blue heron glides silently over the rushing creek far below ... the sun splashes through a skylight and illuminates a mammoth tree trunk growing straight up through the floor of your kitchen and disappearing through the ceiling!
