If you're visiting Cologne you should visit the Fr�h-Brewery (near the train station) and of course the Malzm�hle (Heumarkt) which I think is the best K�lsch-Brewery.
If you're looking for a place to stay, I can recommend the "Hotel Heinzelm�nnchen", Hohe Pforte 5, 50676 Cologne. It's not expensive and directly in the city center.
